According to the NPD Group, the combined sales of the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch Lite systems hit over 148,000 units in Canada in the month of November. As of last month, Nintendo hit another milestone as the best-selling video game console for 25 consecutive months. It’s been a pretty good streak for the system and it looks like it’s not going to budge anytime soon.
A lot of these numbers come from the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe bundle that was available during Black Friday, which came with three months of Nintendo Switch Online as well as a digital copy of the game. In 2020, the Nintendo Switch has sold a whopping 790,000 units in Canada, surpassing the number sold in 2019 by over 162,000 and in only 11 months.
“We are pleased that fans of all ages throughout Canada are playing Nintendo Switch and enjoying the versatility of the system,” said Dominic Gross, General Manager, Nintendo of Canada. “Whether it is playing Mario Kart 8 Deluxe together or connecting online with friends and family to share island creations in the Animal Crossing: New Horizons game, Nintendo Switch offers something for everyone and we hope it creates many happy memories this holiday season and beyond”.
With Christmas just weeks away, if you’re looking for a console, it’s going to be hard to find one. Both models have been sold out for months at every retailer and to find one is almost impossible.
