Nintendo has revealed its latest financial results and with that, we now know how many Switch units have sold. The current tally as of March 31, 2022, puts the Nintendo Switch ahead of the Wii U, bringing the total to 107.65 million units sold.
In the last quarter, Nintendo sold 4.11 million units putting the console at 23.06 million units throughout the year. Looking at software sales, in total 822.18 million units of software sold so far.
Nintendo is aware that while sales are down by 20 percent due to “shortages of semiconductor components and other parts,” supply chain issues affect several industries including the video games market. This led to the company revising sales forecasts for the year but it’s also of interest to note software sales are up.
Software sales grew 1.8 percent year on year to 235.07 million, making it the highest annual software sale ever. This shows that the demand for video games is still there even if the hardware is currently aging.
