Sony revealed new details about their next-gen console, Xbox revealed an all-digital Xbox One, and Nintendo revealed that Joker from Persona 5 joins Smash Bros. Ultimate. Out of the blue, Nintendo uploaded a new video for Joker and update 3.0 which comes with a suite of upgrades and features.
First up is the Stage Builder, which was leaked last week in a video for Nintendo. Today comes to the official confirmation from Nintendo that it’s real and coming tomorrow!
- Stage Builder: Players with big ideas for a personalized Super Smash Bros. Ultimate stage can let their creativity run wild with the new Stage Builder mode. By using in-game tools, players can add moving platforms, spinning traps and other unique features to their customized stages. By playing in Handheld mode, budding designers can even use the touch screen to freely draw and create and use front and back layers to decorate their stages further. Designed stages will be available to play in a new tab on the Stage Select screen and can be shared online via the new Smash World service for the Nintendo Switch Online app.
Next up is the Video Editor! Edit your matches you’ve saved to our console, and offers both subtitles and sound effects to make a more personalized edit of your matches. Once you’re ready you can upload your videos to the new Smash World service.
- Video Editor: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video content that has been saved to a Nintendo Switch system can now be spliced together into a fun timeline presentation. Subtitles and sound effects can also be added to personalize the video, which can be exported and shared with the world through the new Smash World service for the Nintendo Switch Online app.
Lastly is Smash World, a new hub that players use to share their videos, download new stages built in Stage Builder and share the best levels created with Stage Builder. Using this feature requires a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.

The Challenger Pack 1 containing Joker, the Mementos stage and Persona series music can be purchased for $7.55, but players can also purchase the Fighters Pass for a suggested retail price of $31.49, giving them access to Joker and the other upcoming four Challenger Packs as they release.
