The Nintendo rumour floodgates have apparently opened this morning, with a ton of information coming from known insider Natethehate.
The news onslaught was also corroborated by VGC, which claims that a new Star Fox game is launching this summer. This is hot on the heels of the news that Fox is appearing in the upcoming The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, voiced by Glen Powell.
The upcoming game is supposed to be a return to classic Star Fox, with “visuals [that] are supposed to be very good, and…online multiplayer.” Star Fox most recently appeared in Starlink: Battle for Atlas, the toys-to-life action game, but hasn’t appeared in his own title since the Wii U’s Star Fox Zero in 2016.
That’s not all, though. Nate also went on to say Nintendo evidently is not planning a general direct until June. A packed summer seems to follow, as according to Nate, Splatoon Raiders, Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, Rhythm Heaven, and Switch Sports are all supposed to launch this summer as well. A Switch 2 edition of Pikmin 4 is also rumoured.
The two other major franchises that Nate spoke to were Zelda and Mario. To coincide with Zelda’s 40th anniversary this year, a The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake is apparently on the way, launching Holiday 2026 for the Switch 2. The original game launched on the Nintendo 64 in 1998, accepted by many as one of the greatest games ever made.
The Ocarina remake should fill the Mario-sized hole in Nintendo’s holiday 2026 plans, as the next 3D Mario is evidently launching in 2027. Nintendo hasn’t commented on any of these plans, so time will tell how much of this is accurate.
