Nintendo Has No Plans For A Switch Pro Model, Pokémon Sword and Shield Sell Well

Nintendo’s latest financial report is out and there are some interesting tidbits of information available.

For starters, the Nintendo Switch had a record-breaking season with Pokémon Sword and Shield selling 16.06 million units from mid-November to the end of 2019. This generation of Pokémon sold better than Pokémon Sun and Moon which held the record for best-selling entry in the Pokémon series.

The total sell-through in Japan, North America, and Europe for Luigi’s Mansion 3 has exceeded 4 million units in the 9 weeks since its release on October 31. Other Nintendo properties sold well, too with The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening remake selling 4.19 million units and Super Mario Maker 2 selling 5.04 million units.

As for hardware, the Nintendo Switch is still selling well and the holiday season proved successful for the company. Nintendo Switch has sold roughly 48 million consoles since launching in March 2017 and with the Nintendo Switch Lite launching in September 2019.
