Nintendo To Double Production On Switch

A report from the Wall Street Journal has Nintendo looking to double up and increase the amount of Nintendo Switch units that will be produced. As of April 1, Nintendo plans to produce 16 million consoles, up from the original eight million that was being projected, but after a positive response from the public, it seems that Nintendo wants to jump on the positive feedback.

The Wii U in comparison sold a total of 13 million units, and this number could very likely be eclipsed by the Switch with a solid library and developer backing, both of which the Wii U was lacking as most developers ended up abandoning support for the Wii U.

The increase in production will continue until March 31, 2018, and could very well continue after that given the continued success of the Switch.

We’ll have to wait and see how time affects the console.
