Nintendo Cracking Down On Pirated Pokemon Sun And Moon

Pokemon Sun isn’t even out yet in North America, but that doesn’t stop people from playing pirated copies of a hotly anticipated title.

Over at GBA Temp, people are claiming they are being handed a ban on their Nintendo 3DS. The games files leaked online earlier this month and those who had those files could play the game for free, go online and more.

It looks like first offenders are getting a 15-day ban and repeat offenders being permanently banned from Nintendo’s network.

A statement from Nintendo confirms the bans:

As a result of a number of Nintendo 3DS users using unauthorized versions of several games, and connecting to the official game servers in violation of our terms of service, these users’ Nintendo 3DS systems that stored the unauthorized game code have been banned from Nintendo’s online network effective immediately.
