Former Founder Of Playground Game Establishes New Studio Lighthouse Games

Gavin Raeburn, the former founder of Playground Games has established a new studio after departing from the Forza Horizon developer.

“I’m delighted that 30 former colleagues and other industry heavyweights have chosen to join me at Lighthouse,” Raeburn said in a press release. “With Horizon, Playground and I created one of the most successful Xbox franchises of all time. We delivered significant commercial success year after year, to massive critical acclaim, following the success from my time at Codemasters leading DiRTGRID, and F1. That DNA is now at Lighthouse, and with it, we intend to build something truly special using all our experience to create a new genre-defining franchise.”

Over on GamesIndustry.biz, Raeburn says that “… I could probably write a book on the things I’ve learned at all the studios I’ve worked at, and across all the projects I’ve worked on – perhaps I should,” he laughs. “That’s what is so exciting for me now. Building something new and awesome, surrounded by energized and talented people, is such a motivating force.”

Lighthouse is an opportunity to grow as a team and branch out for something special to be developed.

“People should be looking at Lighthouse expecting that we’ll be producing something highly polished and technologically ambitious,” he says. “That’s exactly our ambition, and the heritage of our team makes that possible.”

It likely will be some time before we learn what the studio is planning on working on. For now, if you want to apply then head to the studio’s website here for job listings.
