NEO: The World Ends with You will launch on July 27, 2021, on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with a PC port confirmed for later in the summer, Square Enix has announced. I’ve been patiently waiting for a sequel to the iconic The World Ends with You, and now we finally have a release date.
The original The World Ends with You launched way back in 2007 on the Nintendo DS. Since then it has been ported to mobile phones and the Switch, and fan years fans clamoured for a sequel. Now, with the second game not far away, a new group of hipster teens must fight for survival in Shibuya once more. With a new protagonist, Rindo explores the heart of Tokyo to uncover the mysteries behind the sinister “Reapers’ Game,” a life-or-death battle for survival in which he has been forced to take part.
This new trailer which went live today introduces the new cast of characters and their voice actors. From the sounds of it, Takeharu Ishimoto returns to compose the soundtrack which I’m happy to hear as he is a critical piece to making this second game feel like a true sequel. As Rindo, you’ll recruit others to your team and explore the sights and sounds of Tokyo while engaging in battles against the Noise.
I’m looking forward to collecting pins, shopping for the hottest fashion in Shibuya and getting to know the new cast. You can see the inspiration from Tetsuya Nomura in the design of each character. Head on over to the official website for more info.
