After the dismal reception of the last Need for Speed entry, the series took another much-needed break. It’s been a few years now since we’ve seen the series so a new game in 2019 is fine by me. I expected it and wanted a reveal at E3 this year but alas, the game won’t be at E3 but is still out this year. Say what?
A blog post on EA’s website revealed that yes, a new title in the series was in the works but wouldn’t be at E3. Ben Walke, of DICE, spoke about the news “Our goal is to deliver a truly memorable high-speed entry into the 25 years of NFS, rather than a series of promotional events. The game matters most – a sentiment we bet you share with us.”
Which is fair, because Need for Speed Payback drained me of any love I had for the series. So with the franchise celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year, I am all for the developers doing what’s right for the series and themselves and working on a game that reflects what made Need for Speed so damn good in the first place.
