National Video Games Day is coming up on September 12, 2026. Started by Twin Galaxies Intergalactic Scoreboard’s founder Walter Day on July 25, 1983, it is now a day to celebrate the advancement of gaming. In Canada, Google Trends says this year’s celebration of gaming is led by what comes next.
They looked at what Canadians searched on Google last month, and they are releasing a whole bunch of that information.
With people still talking about the GTA 6 extended look on Netflix, it’s no surprise that the upcoming life of crime simulator is the most-searched-for game. Wardogs, Star Wars: Zero Company and Stage Tour follow.
It would appear us Canadians are ready to get comfortable and hunker down for a cozy Fall gaming season, as searches on Google for “best” include best budget gaming chairs, best cheap gaming laptops, best indie games, best Switch 2 games and best PS5 games.
Oh, and it would appear we are looking for what to play next, as the Google Search platform was used last month by Canadians with the term “games like…” including Tomodachi Life, Raid: Shadow Legends, Animal Crossing, Resident Evil, Ready or Not, Blue Prince, Dispatch, Papers, Please!, The Sims and Roblox.
Finally, we are an intrepid bunch who always use Google Search to find out how to lower ping in games, choose a gaming monitor, and get a refund for a game on Steam. That last one is an essential skill!
