Over this past weekend at Anime Expo 2023, Publisher Bandai Namco showed off a brand-new trailer for Naruto X Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections at its Summer Showcase event which showed off the game’s ‘Special Story Mode’ alongside two new original characters.
The first of which is Nanshi who isn’t an unfamiliar name to the fans of the franchise’s online game, Ninja Heroes as she is a well-known navigator from that property and is making the jump to the main game; she honestly looks like fanfiction OC come to life as she has the looks and wardrobe of what would be Naruto and Sakura’s possible daughter. The other character is Merz, a mysterious man who is this story mode’s antagonist and wants to kickstart the “Fifth Great Ninja War.” The trailer also featured another fight between Naruto and Sasuke in their adult years with the titular character throwing the first punch this time around.
Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections was announced as part of the Naruto anime’s 20th anniversary and was first shown off at a State of Play presentation back in February. The game is set to set to be a compilation and is adapting every major Naruto Ultimate Ninja Storm title in one unique package with the series’ largest roster yet – over 120 characters from the series’ past and future. This edition of the Storm series will also include the debut of a couple of never-played-before characters including Asura Ōtsutsuki, Indra Ōtsutsuki, Boruto (Karma), Kawaki, Jigen, and more.
Naruto x Boruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections is set to release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch, with the game playable at 60 fps on next-gen hardware. While no specific release date was revealed in the trailer the game is still slated to release sometime this year.
