Alzara: Radiant Echoes

Motoi Sakuraba Talks His Inspiration For ALZARA: Radiant Echoes

Like it or not, Motoi Sakuraba is arguably one of the hardest-working composers in video game history. He’s brought us the music for iconic worlds like the ones in Golden SunStar Ocean, and the Tales Of series.

It’s pretty the wonder considering how to bring those worlds’ sounds to life, so it’s pretty exciting to see Sakuraba break down his inspirations for Studio Camelia’s upcoming JRPG adventure ALZARA: Radiant Echoes.

For those who missed the initial launch information, ALZARA: Radiant Echoes will transport gamers to a fantasy Mediterranean archipelago on the brink of all-out war.

In his new teaser, Sakuraba-san says, “As the game takes place in the Mediterranean Sea, I have opted for instruments that conjure the feeling of the Mediterranean, such as the oud, santur, kaval, castanets, and acoustic guitar. I was drawn to the graphics, with their very distinctive use of colour and the warm feeling the images give.”

We get a snippet of the teased soundtrack in this message, but what we get is vast and sparkling –bringing up feelings of the sea-fairing adventure we’ve been shown so far.

Alongside Sakuraba-san on the keys, Studio Camelia is teaming up with Japanese artist Yoshiro Ambe [Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem Heroes, Trials of Mana] to bring colour and depth to the cast of characters. In contrast, Montpellier watercolour artist Marcel Mosqi brings a dreamy world map.

ALZARA: Radiant Echoes is a 3D turn-based JRPG aimed to be released on PC and consoles in 2026. Wishlist now on Steam!
