Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Drops New Trailer At State of Play

Monster Hunter Wilds – Ascendance, the upcoming expansion to Monster Hunter Wilds, dropped a new trailer at today’s State of Play.

The trailer mixes epic cinematics with the huge fights the series is known for. Ascendance takes things to the skies, bringing players to the Forbidden Lands as elder dragons emerge. It looks fantastic, and for fans of Wilds, it brings a lot more to an already awesome experience.

“The story begins with the sudden appearance of the colossal Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung in the Forbidden Lands, leaving the Expedition Team and its members powerless as devastation unfolds around them. The story moves forward several years as the Expedition fortifies their position in preparation for the return of Lao-Shan Lung, including the construction of Madoi Stronghold,” Joseph Bustos, Social Media and Community Manager, Capcom USA, says.

“As time passes, the mist that once shrouded Wyveria’s skies finally clears, revealing the Skybound Eyrie: a new locale floating high above the clouds. This mysterious new region features lush open landscapes, ancient ruins, and never-before-seen endemic life.”

Capcom says players will face new monsters like the Araketa, a new Bird Wyvern capable of high-speed flight across vast distances by controlling powerful air currents released from its wings. There’s also the Gundoraja,  an Elder Dragon who can bend the storms over the Skybound Eyrie.

New items like the Boost Bracer allow new abilities via the Hunter’s Slinger. It temporarily enhances the Hunter’s combat abilities by “amplifying the unique characteristics and strengths of each of the 14 weapon types.”

There’s also Boost Driveability to create openings, then go offensive in Temporary Booster, where your abilities are enhanced.

Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance launches on Xbox Series, PlayStation 5, and PC in 2027.
