Get your loadouts ready, Modern Warfare 3 has dropped some new campaign details, footage, and exactly when you can head online for beta weekends.
Developed by Sledgehammer Games and Infinity Ward, the latest Call of Duty campaign will pick up right after last year’s Modern Warfare 2 story. This is where the first mission, Operation 627 begins. The full nine minute video shows Task Force 141 infiltrating “a stone fortress in an area that Call of Duty veterans know all too well: Verdansk.”
Using a number of tactics and approached to get deeper into the facility, Alpha Team eventually finds its way into the middle of the gulag, another all-too-familiar area for online players.
The game’s blog has a full breakdown of all the story beats, and further details from the mission briefing.
Call of Duty Next is set for October 5th, promising “a look forward to what’s coming to Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as a livestream where updates from Call of Duty’s mobile experiences will be shared.”
Open Beta Dates
As you can see from the photo below, you’ll be able to test the Modern Warfare 3 online system and load up with friends starting in early October.
PlayStation players will get an extra few days of play with October 6 and 7th for early access purchasers, and 8-10th for the Open Beta. The second weekend opens things up to all other platforms as well on October 12-13th, and 14-16th.
The blog does note that despite many of your items, customizations, and weapons carrying forward from Modern Warfare 2 to Modern Warfare 3, that will not be the case for the beta weekends. That will have to wait until the game’s full release.
That’s all we know so far about the beta testing and access, though expect more from Call of Duty Next in October.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 releases later this year on November 10th.
