Microsoft Unveils Copilot

Later this month, Microsoft is launching Copilot as part of a significant update pushed to Windows 11 users. The AI-powered feature will come bundled with several quality-of-life updates to the system software and launch on September 26 via Windows update 22H2.

Booting up Microsoft 365 and its suite of apps, including Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Bing, Edge, OneDrive, and more, will allow users to use Copilot. Windows 11 users will find Copilot will be available in most operating systems at launch, but Microsoft 365 users will need to wait until November 1 to access these features.

It will be a simple and seamless experience, available in Windows 11, Microsoft 365, and in our web browser with Edge and Bing. It will work as an app or reveal itself when you need it with a right click. We will continue to add capabilities and connections to Copilot across to our most-used applications over time in service of our vision to have one experience that works across your whole life,” says Yusuf Mehdi, Corporate VP and Consumer Chief Marketing Officer.

Mehdi mentions Windows 11 update 22H2 includes over 150 new features, bringing users the most ambitious update yet as Copilot and AI-powered experiences come to Paint, Photos, Clipchamp, and more.

Bing is gaining support for DALLE.E 3 from OpenAI and delivers personalized answers based on your search history and updates to Bing Chat Enterprise.

Paint is now enhanced with AI, and you can now remove backgrounds and layers while also a preview of Cocreator bringing AI to Paint.

The Snipping Tool offers more ways to capture content from your screen. The latest update adds the ability to capture specific text content from an image and paste it onto another application or protect sensitive information with text redaction by using text actions on the post-capture screen.

Notepad will now autosave sessions, allowing you to close out the program without being prompted to save.

File Explorer is being modernized with an address bar and search box designed to help quickly access essential and relevant information. There’s also a gallery feature designed to access photos eassily.
