Microsoft Studios Changes Name To Xbox Game Studios

Revealed during today’s Xbox Inside, Microsoft Studios is no more. Instead, the studio is being rebranded as Xbox Game Studios, what Matt Booty says is an evolution of the Xbox brand.

With the focus on both PC, console, and mobile gaming, the decision to change names came naturally, allowing for Xbox to be played across all devices.

Xbox Game Studios is comprised of 13 game development teams who’ve worked on some of the biggest games in the industry including Age of Empires, Forza, Gears of War, Halo and Minecraft. The studios beneath the umbrella include 343 Industries, The Coalition, Compulsion Games, The Initiative, inXile Entertainment, Minecraft, Ninja Theory, Obsidian Entertainment, Playground Games, Rare, Turn 10 Studios, Undead Labs and the Global Publishing group are currently at work on new and original IP’s and exclusives.

Since E3, the Xbox brand has made a wondrous comeback and went on to win the show with due to its excellent showing at the industry event. As it stands, Xbox is now in one hell of a position to deliver experiences that only can be found on Xbox, and with their new organization as Xbox Game Studios, this is all the more likely with a reinvigorating energy that’s exciting to see in action.
