Microsoft is helping 343 Industries by installingHalo veteran Joseph Staten in a top position at the studio. The news broke late last night through Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier and paints a picture of Staten there to help ship a troubled video game.
I'm thrilled to join @Halo to help them ship Halo Infinite. As the project lead for the Infinite Campaign, I will be supporting the team's existing, great leaders and empowering them to do their best work. https://t.co/pQiNPQVBZs
For veteran fans of the series, Joseph Staten worked on the original trilogy as he focused on the writing, editing, and directing of Bungie’s Halo 1 – 3. It is his work that helped transform the series from a generic shooter to a series full of rich lore and beloved characters. Staten stayed with Bungie up until 2013 before joining Microsoft in January 2014. Since then he has been a Senior Creative Director, working on various projects, including ReCore.
Halo: Infinite has been in the news recently due to the mixed reception it received at July’s Xbox Games Showcase. Not only that, but the game was also delayed from its Xbox Series X launch window until 2021 for polish and to allow 343 the time to finish the game after years in development. In our interview with the studio, they told us that Halo Infinite was their most ambitious title to date.
