Metroid Ravenous Nintendo Direct

Metroid Ravenous Announced, Out In January 2027

In what is arguably the most fascinating and frantic announcement of today’s Nintendo Direct, Metroid Ravenous has been confirmed to be in production. The internet has been buzzing with leaks and unconfirmed rumours about the game’s existence.

And now, we’ve seen that it’s real…and really gritty. “I was attacked by unknown assailants and sustained grave injuries,” Samus says in the trailer. “I don’t know where I am. Getting back to the surface won’t be easy. My chances of getting off this moon are slim at best. Still – I will survive. And I will make it home. Even if I have to feed on my enemies to do so. It’s eat or be eaten.”

Metroid Ravenous is the latest game in the 2D Metroid series, and the trailer above shows Samus as she battles her way off a desert planet. It looks like she’s got new skills as she battles what appear to be five aliens stalking her. Samus faces off against several enemy types, and the clip shows her phasing through a wall and using her new ability to siphon enemies’ life force.

It all looks incredible in the brief trailer, and I can’t believe that within five years we’ve gotten two new 2D Metroid titles for the Switch and Switch 2.

There will also be three new amiibo:

A Chozo Statue, Samus, and Samus (Metroid Suit).

Even more exciting, we now have a confirmed release date of January 28, 2027.
