It has certainly felt like the longest year, hasn’t it? Can you believe it’s already been a year since Crystal Dynamics launched Marvel’s Avengers? Me either. Today, the studio released an updated roadmap that’ll drive the next few months of content and into next year. Following this month’s War for Wakanda expansion that added Black Panther to the roster, we’re finally beginning to see the bread crumbs leading to PlayStation’s exclusive Spider-Man that’s still set to arrive this year.
First, Marvel’s Avengers will see its first raid a year after launch. In the Discordant Sound raid, the event begins at power level 150 and trends upwards to power level 175, pitting players against Klaw. This will continue the events from war for Wakanda. Crystal Dynamics also promised a power level cap increase coming to the game at some point and the promise of gear being reworked.
This new system is planned to allow players to upgrade Epic, Legendary, & Exotic gear from power level 100 all the way to the new power level cap and looking at how Hero Set Gear is obtained how to improve its usage.
Furthermore, resources will be reworked in the future by streamlining the approach. In the new system, resources will have a single specific purpose to improve clarity – like how Polychoron is used exclusively for upgrading major artifacts, and Upgrade Modules are reserved for upgrading gear.
Our next roadmap covers what we have planned for the remainder of 2021.

Crystal Dynamics is adamant about the release of Spider-Man this year on PlayStation. He’ll be joining via a Hero Event we’ve learned but the studio had very little to say about him today, promising more news closer to launch with ‘ a glimpse of him here and there along the way.’
Also, from September 2 – 16, those who log in and complete any of the story-based campaigns will unlock new nameplates and those who’ve already finished will unlock them retroactively. There will also be free rewards like a new Iron Man outfit and anniversary bundle (Black Panther nameplate, Hero’s Catalyst, and Fragment Extractor) and a new Thor outfit and additional Hero’s Catalyst.
The last year hasn’t been kind to Marvel’s Avengers but I’m hoping the developers can turn it around.
