Mario Tennis Fever Overview Trailer Details Mechanics, Out This February

Nintendo’s Mario Tennis Fever is out next month, and, as with most first-party games, a lengthy overview trailer reveals details of the mechanics, characters, and more.

The Mario Tennis Fever overview covers basic shots, emphasizing that the game builds on the series’ predecessors. Topspins, slices, and lobs are your basic shots that help keep the rally alive. We also see Fever Rackets, which shake games up by introducing the Fever Gauge. This new mechanic allows you to unleash some devastating shots at your opponent.

We also see the Ice Racket, capable of freezing the courts, the Pokey Racket, allowing for enemies to appear on the opposite side to trip up enemies, the Shadow Racket, which confuses opponents, and the Golden Dash Racket. In total, there are 30 Fever Rackets to use. In a doubles match, partners can hit a Fever Racket at the same time to devastate opponents.

Mario Tennis Fever also adds Goomba, Nabbit, and Baby Waluigi to the roster. Nintendo says there are 38 characters, the most in the series’ history and you can mix and match them with the Fever Rackets. Additionally, you can play traditional tennis with slides and leaps to rally. You can swap between defensive actions and moves on the court to keep things interesting.

Mario Tennis Fever includes Tournament mode, Trail Towers, Ring Shot, Forest Court Match, Pinball Match, Racket Factory Match, and Wonder Court Match. There’s even an Adventure mode filled with bosses, challenges, and more.

There’s also four-player local play and online play, plus you can GameShare with others.  If you want to climb ranks, the Ranked Match returns, so get those limbs loose.

Mario Tennis Fever launches on the Nintendo Switch 2 on February 12, 2026.
