Lost Judgment May Be Last in Series Due to Actor Dispute
The upcoming sequel Lost Judgment has been highly anticipated since being revealed in May but if this recent turn of events is anything to go on, it may be the last of the spin-off series.
The news surrounding the entire debacle is callous at best, which according to Nikkan Taishu, a Japanese show-business website, saying actor Takuya Kimura’s team has issues with a PC port of the sequel. The actor’s talent agency Johnny & Associates has been working against Sega, attempting to block their client from appearing in the PC port.
“Those on the side of the game developer and those on the side of Johnny’s are said to have been unable to reach an agreement regarding the platforms to sell the game,” Nikkan Taishu report states.
What makes this an insane story is that Tamura’s talent agency refuses to allow the sequel Lost Judgment to release on PC. Sega wants to release the game on Steam but Johnny & Associates are telling them they can’t and because they control the actor’s likeness, will not budge on the situation. To make this even weirder, is that Judgment recently launched on Stadia.
From what I’ve gathered on the topic, the talent agency is internet-averse and has been seen to be stringent in allowing the use of social media for its clients, let alone anything else on the internet. Kimura is reportedly a gamer and enjoys playing the role of Yagami, this makes the decision to keep the game off PC even more baffling as it goes against the wishes of the actor.
Lost Judgment is scheduled to launch worldwide on September 24, 2021, on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|X, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
