Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Launching on September 25th, a Physical Edition Set to Release in October

Developer Dragami Games has announced in a trailer that Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, the upcoming remake of the cult classic PS3 and Xbox 360 game, will launch on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch on September 25th.  A Physical edition of the game is confirmed to be released in October, with more details to be shared later.

The original 2012 game saw players on seventh-generation console hardware play as 18-year-old high school cheerleader and zombie hunter descendant Juliet Starling, who takes on a horde of zombies while trying to stop the apocalypse. Alongside her is Julet’s titular chainsaw and boyfriend literally at her hip, his head anyway. The original game was a collaboration between Suda51 and film director James Gunn with Kadokawa Games and Warner Bros. publishing the title, neither cretaors have any involvement in Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP, but is rather a project headed by Kadokawa Games’ successor Dragami Games.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP is described by Dragami Games as Lollipop Chainsaw’s “definitive version” that makes no changes to the story but rather focuses ” on quality-of-life improvements and additional gameplay content.” Players can expect modern HD resolutions, improved load times and inputs, sped-up chainsaw action/combos, and more. As for added content a new “RePOP mode” and Time Attack mode have been added in the remake alongside new chainsaws, hair colours, and up to 30 costumes; giving players up to 750 combinations at their disposal in the remake.

The remake was initially announced in 2022 with an initial launch aiming for 2023 but was later delayed to this year to give the developer extra time to give Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP “the best possible quality experience.” As for what the future is for the Lollipop Chainsaw IP, Dragami Games CEO Yoshimi Yasuda said in an interview with Gematsu that he has “personally started thinking about the future of Lollipop Chainsaw” but has nothing to share at this moment but hopes ” the time will come when I can.”
