Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name Launches This November

We might have a slight spoiler for Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest kick-off showcase as Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name has been leaked by a PlayStation Store listing which reveals the game will launch later this year on November 9th, as first reported by Gematsu early this morning.

The leak first popped on PSdeals, a website that tracks prices on the PlayStation store, which revealed not just the date but also some screenshots which make the game look like Like a Dragon‘s spin on James Bond/Kingsman. In addition, we also go a synopsis for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, which is pretty great as we know very little about the game. The first initial trailer from back in September revealed the series protagonist for the first seven games is getting one last ride in the upcoming game under the codename, Joryu.

“Once a legendary yakuza, Kazuma Kiryu faked his death and abandoned his name to protect his family. Now, he is thrust into conflict by a mysterious figure attempting to drive him out of hiding,” Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name‘s synopsis says.

In addition, we get some gameplay descriptions detailing the game’s two fighting styles, including the familiar yet aggressive Yakuza style to which our hero is accustomed to and the gadget-focused Agent Style. The latter lets Kiryu “deliver blows with absolute speed and precision while using an array of high-tech gadgets like electrified bind wires to stun enemies then send them flying.”

Speaking of which, Like a Dragon 8, which was revealed alongside the 2023 Kiryu-focused game, is set to launch next year, but after that, not much is known of what’s coming from RGG Studios, although an RGG Summit showcase is slated for next week so maybe more could be revealed.
