Tencent has acquired Lucid Games, the studio that worked on Destruction AllStars for PlayStation 5.
We are thrilled that Lucid Games is now part of LightSpeed Studios family.
We'll continue to enjoy full independence in the games that we create and the operation of the studio, while having the support from LightSpeed Studios' global network and technology capabilities. pic.twitter.com/uLJW3vI3PI

The news was revealed via a tweet from Lucid Games, confirming it is now a part of LightSpeed Studios, a subsidiary of Tencent with offices in the U.S., Canada, Singapore, the U.K., France, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and the UAE.
“We’ll continue to enjoy full independence in the games that we create and the operation of the studio while having the support from LightSpeed Studios’ global network and technology capabilities,” said Lucid Games on Twitter.
In my review of Lucid Games’ Destruction AllStars, I said it was “fun, but it’s best played in short sessions. I love the moment-to-moment gameplay, but it isn’t enough to keep me invested for over an hour. Driving and vehicular combat are fun and often enjoyable, but the minute you leave your car, you see the cracks in gameplay. There is potential here, and the world and characters are neat. But the developers never seem to elevate the gameplay from good to great.”
