Neowize has released a new extended look at Lies of P and our best look at what players can expect in September, including the core systems, Weapon Assembly, Fable Arts, Legion Arms, P-Organ upgrades, and more.
The video starts with some background regarding the basics of Lies of P, the genre and the reasoning behind choosing the setting, story, and characters. For someone like me who was on the fence regarding the upcoming Soulsborne title, I felt a bit burned by Steelrising and was a bit apprehensive, but the recent demo and deep dive into the mechanics and world have put me at ease.
Neowiz is working on a passion project; you can see that in the video above. From the way you can assemble weapons, including mixing and matching blades and handles, to the Fable Arts, unique abilities attached to each weapon, to the Legion Arts, capable of unlocking new playstyles by equipping different mechanic arms, there’s a lot of thoughtfulness in the way the mechanics play together.
I haven’t even mentioned the Belle Époque-inspired city of Krat, reminiscent of Bloodborne’s Yharnham in all the right ways. The city, once a bustling centre for humanity, has not become a nightmare-infested place where puppets and a plague have overtaken the land. As P, you’re left to fight through the city and search for Geppetto to become human.
Lies of P launches on September 19, 2023 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, and PC.
