Revealed today, the Piranha Plant is the latest collaboration with Nintendo as it continues to round out an eclectic collection for all ages. With over 500 pieces included, the Piranha Plant provides a ton of detail to the iconic thorn in Mario’s side, but it’s a vibrant and colourful piece you can add to your shelf of Lego sets when you’re done with it.
The Piranha Plant features a moveable head, mouth, stalk, and leaves that you can position in several poses. Interestingly enough, the Piranha Plant was designed at Lego, so you built it from the bottom up, enacting how you’d encounter one in a warp pipe in most Super Mario games.
“When designing the Piranha Plant, it felt important to capture its distinctive features and ensure that the set could be positioned in a way that reflects its iconic poses. I’m so proud of the finished result, from the mouth to the leaves and stalk, we’ve managed to perfectly portray the menacing essence of the Piranha Plant,” says Carl Merriam, the Senior Designer on the Lego Super Mario Collection.
