Larian Studios Announces Its Opening A New Studio In Warsaw “With Two Very Ambitious RPGs” In Development

Big things are happening at Baldur’s Gate 3 developer Larian Studios; following the success of its 2023 outing, the company has announced that it has opened up its seventh studio in Warsaw, Poland. The news comes after the studio confirmed in a Baldur’s Gate 3 Steam update that the developer was working on two projects so the extra studio will only help on the development front.

“Visiting [the Game Industry Conference in Poland] last year confirmed what I’d been thinking for a while—there’s a lot of talent here and a lot of devs who think like us. On top of that, many of them want to work on RPGs so it’s a match made in heaven. Our plan for the Polish studio is very simple. Build a team that can work on our two—very ambitious—new RPGs and enjoy the fruits of their labour. We’re a very bottom-up company so I’m eager to see what new things they’ll bring us. I think it’ll work really well,” Larian Studios founder Swen Vincke said in a press release.

Over the last couple of years, Poland has become a real hub for the game industry, while the country pays developers less than other countries like the USA or even other European countries it is made up for Poland’s low cost of living. Seeing Larian Studios make the move to open a studio in Poland makes a lot of sense, but it is also a calculated move on their part.

It will probably be a while before we see Larian Studios in the news again regarding game announcements, as these two projects will take years to develop before we see anything, especially knowing Larian’s dedication to their craft. We at least know whatever those games will be they won’t be Dungeons & Dragons-related following Larian Studios’ decision to move on from Wizards of the Coast’s brand via IGN.
