Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Knights of the Old Republic Remake Embracer Group

The Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Is Still In Production

Star Wars is a massive franchise with some of the most memorable video games attached to the IP, including the popular Knights of the Old Republic. It is so popular that a remake was announced several years ago.

Up until the tail-end of 2023, it was rumoured that the upcoming Knights of the Old Republic was all but cancelled. The project has gone through several developers and delays, but ultimately, it was reported to be shelved.

After Saber Interactive split from Embracer Group last week,  CEO Matthew Karch spoke to IGN and said the project was underway.

Without going into specifics, Karch confirmed that the Knights of the Old Republic were brought over to Saber after the split from the Embracer Group and the title is still in active development.

“It’s clear and it’s obivous that we’re working on this,” he said. “It’s been in the press numerous times. What I will say is that the game is alive and well, and we’re dedicated to making sure we exceed consumer expectations,” says Karch.

In an investor call after Embracer and Saber split, Embracer CEO Lars Wingefors said that the project was far off from release. We do know that it was in a development hell for some time with no progress being made before now ending up with Sony.
