Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning

Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning Launches for Switch on March 16

After launching this past summer on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning is finally launching on the Nintendo Switch in March 2021, THQ Nordic has announced. It is a remaster of the game developed by 38 Studios, who went bankrupt not long after the launch date.

In 2018, THQ Nordic purchased the rights to the Kingdoms of Amalur franchise and has since worked with developer Kaiko on delivering the remaster. In addition, the publisher confirmed plans for new Kingdoms of Amalur content with Fatesworn, which according to the developers will add more than five hours of new content for players looking for more Amalur content.

In my review of Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning, I mentioned that the game was dated in 2020 but the core experience was excellent. It’s a shame the series fell into disarray after the insolvency of 38 Studios and I’m optimistic we’ll see a sequel with THQ Nordic now controlling the IP. A lot of the ideas that were implemented still make this a compelling world to return to or experience the first time.
