It would appear it’s time to let your heart roam free. Disney and Square Enix are confirming that Kingdom Hearts will be the subject of a panel here at this weekend’s Disney D23 fan festival.
What they are not confirming is that Kingdom Hearts 4, which received a first look last month, but come on! This would be the perfect time for an update or some more details, aside from just the fact that the game will be a simultaneous Nintendo Switch 2 release.
The panel titled “Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts” will celebrate 2027, marking 25 years of all things Kingdom Hearts…in an hour.
The event will also feature a number of guests from across the series, including: Nana Gadd, director of Disney and Pixar Games; Square Enix Developer Tai Yasue; grown-up childhood actor Haley Joel Osment and David Gallagher, the longtime English-language voices of series leads Sora and Riku; and Disney Character Voices Executive Renée Johnson.
Disney is promising that “Deep Dive into Kingdom Hearts” will “surprise and delight” fans, but in the same breath, that it will be a “behind-the-scenes look at the making of the games.”
This could mean lots of Kingdom Hearts 4 news, or it could be a bunch of panellists reflecting on what the series has done for a quarter century…and which of the countless characters from the Disney collective universe, or Square Enix creations with names that sound like medications Hollywood celebrities may or may not be using to lose weight, is their favourite.
But it’ll all just be for one night. You’ll want to tune in to the Kingdom Hearts YouTube channel on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. ET. That’s because Square Enix says the event will only be available live during that time block. There will be no recording.
