It’s A LEGENDary Year For Nintendo At The Game Awards

It’s that time of year again where the best of the best of the video game industry comes together to pay homage to the stand out games of the year. Yes that’s right, The Game Awards are back and the nominations are out. It’s no surprise that a Nintendo title is in the running for Game of the Year; but they unexpectedly exceeded the industry’s expectations by holding two nominations in that category and having a record of 24 nominations in all.

It has definitely been a LEGENDary year for Nintendo with talks about The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild winning game of the year stirred up early this year. Many critics praised the mechanics and depth of the game, as well as fans embraced the new take on their beloved franchise. Despite the undisputed admiration of the game Nintendo was able to pull another winner out of their sleeves with the release of Super Mario Odyssey. The game’s inventive take on our favourite plumber, who is put in completely different worlds than we would expect, provides a new look for the franchise. However Nintendo didn’t slow down there, they have other titles that captured the eyes of gamers including Super Mario Run, Splatoon 2, Metroid Samus Returns and many more. Now the question is who will be the night’s biggest winner, Nintendo or Nintendo? Either way I’m pretty sure the company will be happy.
