As we enter the final stretch before Final Fantasy VII Remake officially launches, Square Enix has another episode of Inside Final Fantasy VII Remake to indulge in as we wait; unless of course, you’re in Australia or Europe and the game is readily available.
In the third entry, Yoshinori Kitase, Teruki Endo, as well as Naoki Hamaguchi, Kosuke Sakane and Tomotaka Shiroichi all show up to talk about the new, amalgamated battle system. When work began on the remake, the developers want to create a system that combined the action with the ability to slow time down and plan accordingly.
Combining an action-RPG with the familiar ATB system allows for some rather interesting mechanics. In Final Fantasy VII Remake, special abilities, items, and magic use ATB. In some cases, using a potion requires one bar, while Barrett’s Focused Shot requires 2 ATB bars.
Check out the video for an in-depth look at the combat system. Final Fantasy VII Remake launches April 10, 2020, on PlayStation 4.
