Immortals of Aveum Launches July 20

Electronic Arts and Ascendent Studios have announced that the upcoming first-person spell-based shooter Immortals of Aveum will launch on July 20, 2023.

Originally revealed at The Game Awards 2022, the EA Original comes from a team made of BAFTA winners, including Bret Robbins, former director of Dead Space and Call of Duty.  Immortals of Aveum is set in an original fantasy world where the world is engulfed in magic and filled with various conflicts where you’ll play as Jak as he joins a group of elite battlemages who use three colours of magic – blue, green, and red.

Jak is an orphan who was taken in to become a Magnus battle mage and has a rare ability to wield all three colours of magic, those who can do this are known as Triarch. With his skills, Jak must face off against the forces of Rasharn, a “superpower” warring for control of Lucium.

Immortals of Aveum is described as Call of Duty without guns and features spell-based combat that rewards chaining attacks and well-timed counters.

As an elite battle mage, Jak can double jump and hover over enemies, even use a Lash spell to pull enemies in or grab anchors to move around.

In addition, Jak can find and purchase Sigils which help focus his power. Sigils grant stat boosts and buffs and can even alter spells. There are also Totems that apply boosts and Bracers that can boost defensive capabilities. This all goes hand in hand with a Talent Tree you’ll use to power up the various colours of spells.

Ascendant Studios promises you can backtrack after acquiring new spells to find and discover new things like Shroudfanes, mini-dungeons that are hidden throughout the game and offer challenges and bosses and the best gear, too.

Immortals of Aveum will launch for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC on July 20, 2023.
