Ascendant Studios and EA have announced Immortals of Aveum slips from its intended July 20 release date to August 22. This is to polish the experience further and optimize all platforms.
In a blog post on the studio’s website, Bret Robbins, the CEO of Ascendant Studios, says this delay was done to “realize” the studio’s vision.
“As you know, this is our first game as a self-funded independent studio,” the studio says in a blog post. “We set out five years ago to ambitiously make an original Magic FPS in a new fantasy world. Along the way, we worked through a pandemic, built a new team, developed on Unreal Engine 5.1 and pushed the boundaries of what we thought was possible. Now, the finish line is in sight.”
“”This will give us time to further polish the game, finish optimizing all platforms, and deliver a strong launch. We owe it to ourselves and to you to get this right,” Robbins says via the blog post.
Immortals of Aveum is the latest tile to launch under the EA Originals banner, preceded by Wild Hearts and It Takes Two.
Immortals of Aveum is set in an original fantasy world where the world is engulfed in magic and filled with various conflicts. Where you’ll play Jak as he joins a group of elite battlemages who use three colours of magic – blue, green, and red.
Jak is an orphan who was taken in to become a Magnus battle mage and has a rare ability to wield all three colours of magic; those who can do this are known as Triarch. With his skills, Jak must face off against the forces of Rasharn, a “superpower” warring for control of Lucium.
