If you or someone you know is cheating while playing Pokémon Sword and Shield, well, time’s up because Game Freak is investigating an exploit users are gaming during online play.
After players discovered an exploit that disrupts the Ladder rankings online. A thread on ResetEra describes the exploit and how people are using it online and it sounds rather nasty.
“This bug is easy to exploit. All that must be done is pushing the power button to disconnect the Switch at a specific time after losing the match. When done correctly, not only does the loser NOT lose points for their match, but the winner does not GAIN points for the match won. So basically, this totally nulls the match and ruins the whole point of laddering in Pokemon.”
Japanese Twitter user Ka_Cr_he posted a video showing the exploit in action:

It’s gotten so bad that The Pokémon Company acknowledged the issues in a blog post on its website. Hopefully, this gets patched soon and players can get back to enjoying online play.
