Earlier today, it was revealed that Ian Flynn would be returning to pen the Sonic Frontiers Update 3, which will add playable characters Tails, Knuckles, Amy Rose, and Sage.
On Twitter, Flynn confirmed the news saying that he would flesh out the story while Director Morio Kishimoto supplied “events and key details.”
Since it's been making the rounds: I'm back for the #SonicFrontiers DLC story.
As before, the events & key details were supplied by Kishimoto-san & my job was to flesh it out. The team is extremely hard-working and ambitious. The DLC will be truly important. #KnowingSmile

For years, the man he worked on various Sonic properties including serving as a writer for the Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog series, the Sonic Boom television show and tie-in projects, and also worked on Sonic Origins, where he focused on story scenes.
In my revew of Sonic Frontiers, I said that “it is not what I ever expected for Sonic the Hedgehog. Sega pulled a risky bet by throwing the book at the wall and seeing what sticks but that move seems to be paying off. Make no mistake, Sonic Frontiers is a fresh take on a series that has tried everything, it’s a Sonic 3D title with impeccable handling and mechanics and while the story may not resonate with everyone, I enjoyed it. It does so many things right that the problems, especially around the camera, aren’t enough to spoil the experience.”
The next Sonic Frontiers DLC is set to release on June 23, bringing the Juke Box, Photo Mode, and new Challenge Modes.
