Schell Games have decided to one-up themselves in their seemingly never-ending quest to bring the most James Bond 007 opening credits scene to VR gaming.
The new number for “spy-fy” puzzler I Expect You To Die 3: Cog in the Machine features an original song named for the game’s subtitle — sung by the highly talented Haley Reinhart.
Like any great Bond opening, it focuses on silently informing us of the motivations behind the franchise’s newest villain, Dr. Roxanna Prism, through shadow animation and stills.
“Paying homage to the 1960’s spy-fi inspired world of I Expect You To Die drew me to this project initially,” says Reinhart. “My performance was inspired by the energy of the opening sequences of the first two games along with the sweeping melodies and robust orchestral sound featured on ‘Cog In The Machine.’ It was an absolute thrill to work with such an amazing team and channel a James Bond-like vocal performance (e.g. Shirley Bassey). I can’t wait for the world to experience it!”
“The intro sequences for the IEYTD games are pivotal in preparing players for the adventures ahead, and Haley’s talent brings the song behind I Expect You To Die 3 to life in a powerfully cinematic way,” adds Jesse Schell, CEO of Schell Games. “‘Cog in the Machine’ adds an extra level of intrigue, and Haley’s talent captures the emotion of Dr. Prism perfectly. We are proud to continue our tradition of custom-written songs for each I Expect You To Die game, and Haley absolutely knocked this performance out of the park.”
