For those of us struggling to believe 14 years have passed without a new entry in the SSX series, the aptly named California studio Wabisabi Games has just slid out a new trailer for their SSX-meets-Jet Set Radio arcade snowboarding game, HYPERyuki: Snowboard Syndicate.
The trailer shows an impossible Tokyo ski hill being torn apart by slick snowboarders, with sounds and art that will take you right back to W2K…if you were around for it.
“The extreme sports games in the golden age of the late 90s & early aughts had something special. The speed, the banger music, the outrageous tricks, all pure fun. HYPERyuki captures that spirit immediately. Wabisabi is building something with its own identity, and every new reveal gets more ridiculous in the best possible way. Acclaim is proud to be part of this journey & can’t wait for players to experience it with a new demo soon.” Marc Anthony Rodriguez, director of publishing & strategic partnerships at Acclaim, Inc., said in a press release. Acclaim is, of course, carving things up as the game’s producer.
You may have caught it there, but a new demo is on the way.
