If you play PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) regularly, you will know how important it is to get on the ground before your competition can. This is especially true if you are heading to an area where the loot is limited. If you want to have the best chance of being the first person on the ground, there are a few tricks that you should know.
How To Land Fast
The best way to get on the ground fast is to steer yourself toward the area that you are hoping to land as soon as you jump out of the plane. You also want to fly parallel to the ground. If you are planning to land at a target in the distance, you should aim to the horizon. When your target is 50m in front of you based on the horizon, you should aim at the ground until you reach a speed of 232 km/h.
If you look at the lower left-hand corner of your screen, you will see the gray elevation bar. This will let you know what your position is relative to the ground. The white bar will let you know exactly when your parachute will automatically open. You want to make sure that the gray bar will hit the white bar. To do this, hold the forward key and release it one second early. If you maintain a high speed for a few seconds before your parachute opens and then you slow down to 60 to 64 km/h, you will know that you did it right.
If you want to safely execute this maneuver, you should hold the W while looking at the ground and keep looking at the ground during the entire fall. To use this method, you need to start the maneuver right when you jump out of the plane, even before you aim directly below.
There are some players who claim that spiraling after you open the shoot will increase your speed, however, your speed will plateau at about 64 km/h. This is actually the maximum speed during the parachute phase. This technique can be useful, however, if you are planning to land on a roof.
3 Other things to note
1. Battlegrounds will auto-deploy your chute based on how high you are flying over the land. If you are flying over a mountain or a hill, the white bar on the left of the screen will track the terrain and then move further to the gray area. Basically, this means that you would be forced to open your parachute earlier. If you are planning to land on a hill, this is not an issue. However, if you are just flying over the hill to reach another destination, it can slow you down quite a bit. Because of this, you should always be aware of the terrain that you will be passing when you are flying through the air.
2. If you want to fly as far as possible, you can open your parachute earlier by pressing F. This will let you travel further and you will be able to reach a maximum distance of 200m. If you open your parachute at the first opportunity, you can fly further. If you are going to use this trick, you should understand that after you open the parachute, you will need to alternate between holding the forward button and letting it go. This will let you travel an additional 70 meters than if you were just going to glide toward the ground using your parachute.
3. If you are skydiving horizontally while waiting for your parachute to auto-deploy, the rocking trick can help you travel the same distance as if you were gliding to the ground with your parachute. You can expect between 120 and 130m. This is a great technique to use if you are trying to get from one island to another. It can mean the difference between landing by a warehouse full of loot and in the middle of the ocean.
Happy landing, hiding, and hunting!
