Developer Atelier QDB and publisher Shiro Games revealed Decarnation this week. The pixel horror game will be coming to the Switch and PC later in May and the trailer does a pretty good job of drawing you in.
As the cabaret dancer Gloria, she’s just about at her wits end with her life as everything has turned upside down for her. However, an opportunity presents itself to her and basked in a light of hope, she takes the opportunity. As it turns out, what Gloria agreed to is less of a dream and more of a nightmare. Gloria will be haunted in Decarnation and we’ll see these brought to life as her mind deteriorates.
The studio says Decarnation is inspired by Satoshi Kon’s Perfect Blue and David Lynch’s Mulholland Drive, with a soundtrack from Fleur & Bleu and several other artists and uses pixel art to tell a bone-chilling tale about mental health issues. Furthermore, issues surrounding relationships, careers, self-esteem and day-to-day life will make this tale resonate with just about anyone.
