Xbox Reveals High on Life Broke Game Pass Records As The Biggest 2022 Launch

Plus to Date as the Biggest 3rd Party Game Pass Launch... Ever

Following the launch of High on Life on Game Pass, Xbox revealed that developer, Squanch Games’  most recent title has broken a couple of Game Pass records. The first one was the service’s biggest launch of the year, the second and most impressive is that High on Life was the biggest 3rd party/single-player launch… ever in the over five-year history of the service.

“This was our first time launching a game with Game Pass and we’ve been blown away by the response from the players who have made us the most popular game on Game Pass right now. When Squanch Games was first created, it was to make the games we wanted to play – and Game Pass is helping us reach the players that want to play those games too.” Squanch Games COO and Studio Director, Mike Fridley said in a statement.

High on Life is apparently so popular it’s at the top of the charts in PC, console, and mobile categories which has led the game to surpass first-party games like Minecraft, Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite (Campaign), Sea of Thieves, Microsoft Flight Simulator and many more. High on Life is a unique case that while reviewers are mixed on the game (64 on Metacritic), the Game Pass audience is seemingly having a ball with Justin Roiland’s Rick and Morty-like humour.

High on Life strikes a great balance throughout most of its adventure with some really fun shooting mechanics and dialogue. I knew that even if I was getting tired of hearing the same aggressive, profanity-filled tone from some characters; I was moments away from the game’s core enjoyment. While the story and some of the characters became less of a selling point for me over time, I really enjoyed the gameplay the more and more I played. Come for the writing and acting, stay for the goofy and unique gun fights,” David said in our High on Life review.

High on Life is currently available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S which again is free to start playing Game Pass.
