Here’s What Was Revealed During Sonic Central

Sonic Central’s first stream went off without a hitch but was the event necessary? A lot of the reveals could have been revealed in a series of tweets for the most part and the biggest reveals include a Sonic Colors remaster and a confirmation we’re getting a new Sonic game next year.

Other than that, Sega revealed the blue blur will cameo in the official Tokyo 2020 Olympic game, and a free concert will be available on June 23 that includes Crush 40 and composer Tomoya Ohtani. Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest will have more details later this summer.

Next, Sega’s Two Point Hospital series will add Sonic to the game. There will be character customization options and hospital decor. Swap staff outfits to celebrate Sonic’s 30th, with items available in-game for free on July 22.

Lost Judgment, the Yakuza spinoff sequel, will feature a playable version of Sonic Fighters in-game at the Sega arcades. The game is scheduled to launch on September 24, 2021, worldwide.

Sonic is going to be in Minecraft at some point this year.

Mobile game Sonic Dash is getting a special pirate-themed party and unlock Pirate Sonic and Captain Shadow, collecting other prizes along the way.  Sonic Forces: Speed Battle mobile will get a very special character, allowing players to harness the power of Chaos Emeralds and blast into battle as Super Sonic. Sonic Racing is bringing in the classic feel, with classic characters, cars and three new tracks in a classic zone, along with some old-school remixes. You can also use the Warehog in Sonic Forces and Sonic Dash later this year around Halloween.

Sonic Origins is a new compilation bundle arriving later and includes Sonic the Hedgehog 1, 2, Sonic 3 & Knuckles as well as Sonic CD. More information is coming soon.

Sonic Colors is getting a remaster and it is called Sonic Colors: Ultimate. The 2010 platformer will also get a two-part animation series called Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps and features fully-voiced dialogue with Roger Craig Smith returning as Sonic. Sonic Colors: Ultimate launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch on September 7, 2021.

Sega is working with JAKKS Pacific on Sonic the Hedgehog merchandise, including a Giant Eggman Robot playset, a full-colour hardcover Sonic encyclopedia from Dark Horse and more.

And Sega pulled a Nintendo and did the ‘one more thing’ gimmick, revealing a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog was in development with Sonic Team returning. In will be out in 2022 and is coming to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Switch.
