We’re getting our first look at the upcoming Oddworld: Soulstorm from studio Oddworld Inhabitants. If you’re an older gamer, you’re likely familiar with the Oddworld series. This is a game fans of the series have been waiting for and it’s now we’re getting our first look at a sequel decades in the making.
Soulstorm picks up where the 2014 release Oddworld: New ‘n’ Tasty left us and serves as a reimagining of the Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus. See, back in 1998 Abe’s Exoddus seved as a midquel for the Oddworld series. While not advancing the plot or introducing any new gameplay elements, it wasn’t part of the creator Lorne Lanning’s five-game plan. We didn’t see a proper sequel until Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee.
Now with Soulstorm, we get our first look of Abe exploring a factory in which he’s going to solve puzzles and save some of his friends. This game is a remake of Abe’s Exodus, only expanded to fit today’s standard.
Don’t expect to see Soulstorm until at least 2020. We also don’t know what platforms to expect at launch but I’m rooting for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
