Here Are The Biggest Reveals At Today’s Disney & Marvel Games Showcase

A few weeks ago, Disney announced they would be holding the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase. Kicking off this afternoon, we got a bunch of new game reveals, new looks at announced games, and some more surprises!

Tron: Identity

From Bithell Games, Tron: Identity was announced during today’s showcase. It’s set in a new Grid, one forgotten and left alone by its creator. Forced to evolve, The Repository stands at the center of this society. In the aftermath of a break-in, the future of this Grid hangs in the balance.

The game is a visual novel starring Query, a detective program working on solving a mystery.

Disney Illusion Island

This is a Nintendo Switch exclusive and if you think it looks like Rayman Legends, I don’t blame you. Disney Illusion Island looks incredible and feels like another great game to get people together to play video games.

You can play as Mickey, Minnie, Donald, or Goofy as you work your way across the mysterious Monoth Island and recover three mystical books to save the world.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns

Firaxis previewed a new trailer for this year’s Marvel’s Midnight Suns and confirmed it will launch on December 2, 2022.

We’re also getting Marvel’s Midnight Suns Prequel Shorts. These are a set of five short videos that provide backstory on how Lilith became the Mother of Demons, and how Super Heroes like Blade, Magik, Ghost Rider and Nico Minoru came together to form the young core of the Midnight Suns.

Marvel Snap

The card-based game will launch on October 10. From Nuverse and Second Dinner, Marvel Snap will be a free-to-play game with over 150 cards at launch and more than 80 locations to brawl across. The reason you should keep an eye on Marvel Snap is that it was created by formal Hearthstone developers.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora

We saw a brief clip of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora during today’s showcase.

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – The Galactic Edition

The Galactic Edition will include six new packs in the Character Collection 2, Star Wars: Andor, the LEGO Star Wars: Summer Vacation TV Special, Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Star Wars: The Book of Boba Fett, Star Wars: Rebels, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars adding more than thirty playable characters. Return to Monkey Island launches on September 19 which also happens to be Talk Like a Pirate Day. Today’s showcase had a new trailer for fans of the series.

Disney’s Gargoyles Remastered

The classic Gargoyles video game is getting a remaster for modern consoles. We have no other information about the project but it’ll feature updated visuals. The game launched way back in 1995 on the Sega Genesis.

Aliens: Dark Descent

Disney owns the franchise now and it’s odd seeing a new Aliens property under the Disney banner. We got a new trailer for Aliens: Dark Descent, which from the description is a squad-based RTS strategy game.

Disney Speedstorm

A new trailer was on hand today and it revealed a new map featuring the world of Monsters. Inc.

Marvel World of Heroes

Disney Dreamlight Valley

A new Toy Story world is coming this Fall. If you want to play Disney Dreamlight Valley, you can head to your console or PC now to play the game in Early Access.

Avatar Reckoning

A mobile game based on the films is coming soon.

Untitled Skydance Captain America/Black Panther title

Skydance New Media has given us our first look at their new, unnamed project that is set during World War 2 and stars Captain America and Black Panther.

“We’re so grateful for all the enthusiasm and support we’ve received from fans, and we’re thrilled to finally unveil a first glimpse of the game during this year’s D23 Expo,” said Hennig, President, Skydance New Media. “Marvel has been an incredible partner throughout the creative process as we develop an original story and build an exciting new team of characters. We hope fans are intrigued by this sneak peek, and we’re excited to share more down the road.”

As the game’s narrative unfolds, players will be able to play an ensemble of four characters: a young Steve Rogers, aka Captain America; Azzuri, T’Challa’s grandfather and the WWII-era Black Panther; Gabriel Jones, a U.S. soldier and member of the Howling Commandos; and Nanali, leader of the fledgling Wakandan Spy Network.
