HBO Debuts The Last of Us Trailer

Save who you can save

To celebrate The Last of Us Day, the annual celebration of Naughty Dog’s biggest franchise, we got our first official trailer of the HBO adaption which is set to launch in 2023.

The trailer is paired with the sultry dulcet voice of Hank Williams and the Drifting Cowboys song, Alone and Forsaken. Much of what we see in the trailer is covered in The Last of Us Part 1 and prequel DLC Left Behind when a mutated strain of the Cordyceps fungus infects people turning them feral.

What stands out in this trailer are not the characters but how well the series has translated across mediums. From a video game to television adaption, the cast includes Pedro Pascal, Belle Ramsay, Nick Offerman, and Anna Torv and will cover the first game.

Helmed by Chernobyl series creator Craig Mazin and Naughty Dog’s Neil Druckman, co-creator and director on The Last of Us, the HBO adaption began filming last year in Calgary, Alberta.

HBO has offered no official release date but promises we’ll The Last of Us will premiere in 2023.
