Harmonix Lays Off 17 Staff

Rock Band 4 03

The developer behind the iconic series Rock Band has been hit with another wave of layoffs, this time laying off 17 of their staff.

In a statement to Gamesindustry.biz, Harmonix thanked them for their hard work and contributions.

“Today we made the difficult decision to say goodbye to 17 talented people as we restructured to align with our current and anticipated development needs. These people all played a role in making Harmonix and its games what they are today and we are more than grateful for their contributions. We are working to ensure that they are taken care of as we make this change.”

Harmonix recently released Rock Band VR for the Oculus Rift as well as Sing Space. There is also Rock Band Rivals and DropMix, a title currently being co-developed by Hasbro.

Harmonix has had a string of layoffs, the most recent wave being back in 2014 when 37 team members were let go.
