On this day 20 years ago, the first .hack title launched on PlayStation 2, kicking off a wave of multimedia spanning audio drama, OVAs, anime, and manga. Bandai Namco is celebrating the anniversary and has released a new trailer to mark the occasion.
The publisher is celebrating with multiple campaigns including the release of the .hack//20th Anniversary Book — an all-encompassing book that covers the entire series, launching on July 19, 2022.
Furthermore, for those living in Japan and are able to attend, a .hack//20th Anniversary Exhibit is taking place in Yurakucho Marui in Chiyoda, Tokyo beginning August 9 and running through August 28.
If you’re looking for some merchandise, you might want to check out the .hack//20th Game Art Works book, set to launch in December 2022 or the hack//20th Best, a CD commemorating three volumes with a December 2022 launch date.
Recently, Bandai Namco released the .hack//G.U Recode Collection on Switch and trademarked the Last Recollection. We don’t know what it is regarding but with this year being an anniversary, it could lead to more titles.
