Granblue Fantasy: Relink Gets Delayed

Highly anticipated Granblue Fantasy: Relink has been delayed out of this year and will release at some point in 2023. The news comes from the game’s official site, confirming the new release window.

This year is packed with delays and a lot of them are linked to Covid-19 and the difficulties of having your teams working at home. In a creative industry like video games, being apart from your co-workers can sometimes yield unruly results.

YHuito Kimura, a producer on Granblue Fantasy: Relink explained that the team is working on getting the game ready and they wanted to get it out this year but that is no longer happening.

The note goes on to say that yes, the pandemic is the culprit of this delay but the good thing is that the game is nearly done with the only things left being gameplay balance, debugging, and improving the audio and graphics. Kimura says more news will be revealed at some point this month before returning in December with more news.

Granblue Fantasy: Relink is a project I’ve been following since its reveal but even several years later and I’m still not sure exactly what the game is about and what to expect. Sure, it’s got a lot of familiar elements found in a JRPG but the story is a mystery to me, and so too are the characters.
