Santa Monica Studios God of War soft reboot has done exceedingly well. How well? Well, according to Sony’s latest fiscal report we know the figure is north of 23 million units.
This figure takes into account both PlayStation 4 and PC sales. In the first three days at launch, God of War sold nearly 3 million units before hitting 5 million units later in the same month. From what the report shows, we know on PC there are 3 million units sold.
In 2018, I said during my review that Sony Santa Monica pulled off everything they set to achieve masterfully and showed us that Kratos is not only at war with the outside world but within himself and how to deal with his son, a child who loves his father but doesn’t feel loved.
God of War offered rewarding gameplay and a soundtrack that beautifully complements the intimate moments as well as the chaotic ones.
The follow-up, God of War Ragnarok, will launch later this month on November 9, 2022, for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Sony expects the sequel to sell roughly the same if not better than its predecessor.
